FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What kinds of services do you offer?

DJ G offers a wide range of services for events of all types. From high quality professional disc jockey and emcee, to large-scale sound reinforcement, to beautiful lighting design, he'll work with you to create an event that meets your needs and exceeds your expectations.

What type of events do you do?

DJ G covers events of all types including weddings, school dances, youth group dances, sweet 16s, church activities, and corporate events.

Will the DJ take requests?

We do take requests and may play some of them. We will “filter” requests, meaning we will not play a song that you specifically asked the DJ not to play or music from a genre you asked the DJ not to play. If someone makes a request that fits in well with what the DJ is playing at the time and with the music the client wants, then the DJ may play the request. If there is a question then the DJ will ask the booking party before playing the song. For instance many schools are very strict when it comes to allowing suggestive lyrics or profanity, while the students may request songs that contain questionable phrases or themes - we always honor the guidance from the school administration ;) .

Can the DJ play music from my mobile device?

Sure, but we would like to get the music file(s) in advance of the event. If doing this please consider the audience attending your event.

Will you work with other vendors to produce my event?

DJ G prides himself on taking a team approach to every event. Prior to your event date and throughout the event itself, DJ G will be in contact with your other vendors -- the planner, venue staff, caterers and others as applicable -- to ensure everything runs according to plan.

How far in advance do I need to book your services?

Large-scale events are usually booked several months to a year in advance, with smaller functions often booked short-term. He encourages you to contact him as soon as possible, but he will always accept an event as his availability permits.

Do you carry insurance? Have a business license?

DJ G carries liability insurance with a coverage value of $1,000,000. If your event site requires a certificate of insurance, he will gladly provide one upon request. DJ G is a licensed business with the City of Chandler.

What do you require from my event site?

DJ G brings all of his own speakers, table and linen.  He asks for power within 35 feet of where the DJ will be set up. For larger events, a riser or stage may also be necessary depending on the room layout. He will work with you to outline his specific needs in order to ensure the best possible experience for your event's guests.

What are your terms of payment?

DJ G requires $50 deposit on all events at the time of booking. He will accept the balance payment immediately before the event starts on-site if paid by cash or check. For advance payments, credit cards and Paypal are accepted.

Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

My experience and professionalism comes into play to ensure your event turns out the way you envision it. I excel in what I do to match your needs and exceed your expectations. I interact with the crowd and inject excitement into the event!  I will get out on the dance floor and lead line dances ;)

If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

In this industry, it's easy for someone to call themselves a "DJ." If I was a customer, I would take the time to thoroughly know the person before hiring him/her to be in charge of a major aspect of my event.

Do you do any sort of continuing education to stay up on the latest developments in your field?

Yes, it is important to stay up-to-date in this industry as new technology and music are constantly emerging. I continue to read the latest articles revolving the DJ business and continue to obtain new music to keep up with today's trends.

Will you attend the Rehearsal?

Typically no.  It would be separate billable time.

What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

Don't just go with a provider's price, but understand the value you're getting.

How many songs should I request?

You can select all of the songs you would like to hear, and ones you do not want to hear. Some clients will give their DJ 50+ songs, some maybe 10, so it is up to you. We would like for you to at least give your DJ 10-15 songs of different genres and artists you would like to hear, as well as songs/artists you don’t, so your DJ has an idea of what music you’d like for the different parts of the event. We will play any kind of music you would like and will not play anything that is on your Do Not Play list. During your initial consultation, your DJ will ask about your music preferences.

Should we feed the DJ?

This is not required in our contract and is completely up to you. Typically, the catering director or event coordinator will set aside a meal or boxed dinner for the DJ if requested by the client.

Can I come see you perform?

If I have a public event - Yes!!  But I don't feel comfortable inviting prospective clients to private functions such as weddings.  I respect the sanctity of your event and won't use it to overtly promote or sell my services to outside parties.
